Educare: Lead It Out
Education comes from the Latin educare. It means: to lead out.
The whole modern schooling system has inverted this. We've built institutions that pack in — pack in obedience, pack in someone else's definition of success, pack in a consensus of what's acceptable to think and feel. By the time the system is done with a child, the thing that was meant to be drawn out has been buried under twelve years of compliance training.
Every child arrives with a genius. And genius has nothing to do with IQ scores or extraordinary ability. Genius is the unique spirit that was present at the moment of your birth — still here, still patient, still waiting to be witnessed.
A culture that's afraid of genius has to manufacture mediocrity. That's what school is.
